Technical Specifications

BASIC DESCRIPTION

Dimensions:
Length 16.2 inches
Width 10.2 inches
Height 1.5 inches

Electrical requirements:
(power)
15-24 VDC @ 1 amp

Inputs:
16 digital inputs (TTL, open collector or switch closure to ground)
15 Thermocouple inputs (16-bit resolution)
1 belt speed input (frequency derived from conveyor belt drive)

Outputs:

4 alarm outputs (open collector, .25 amp 50v)
16 general purpose open collector outputs (25 amp 50v)
36 Pulse Width Modulated outputs (open collector, .25 amp 50v)
- OR -
31 0-6V outputs (10 bit resolution)
1 belt speed output (0-6 V)

Communications:
RS-232, software handshake (TX, RX, signal ground only) to be used for user interface on PC.
User interface via Personal Computer
Realtime clock, non-volatile memory and
watchdog timer included.
System can continue to operate furnace with PC down
or disconnected.

PERFORMANCE

Analog inputs:
Resolution: 16 bit
Type of ADC: Dual Slope (7 power line cycles integration period)
Full scale: approximately 60 milivolts
Open circuit detection: yes (1 microamp current injected)
Instrumentation amplifiers with >75 db common mode rejection used on all inputs.
Accuracy: @ 25degrees C within 12 microvolts
Stability: Drift due to ambient temperature: 18-35o C < 5 microvolts per degree C
36-45o C < 10 microvolts per degree C
46-60o C < 10 microvolts per degree C
Drift due to time: < 30 microvolts per year
Software selectable Thermocouple types: J, K, KPII,
W, S, E, and B
Cold junction compensation (within 0.2 degree)
Linearization: in software (error < .01 degree on any type TC)
Each input has it’s own gain and offset (stored in non-volatile memory, software calibration)

Outputs:
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), 0.5 sec cycle time with resolution equal to power line crossing
(zero crossing solid state relays assumed to be used).

Selectable power phases (load balancing across 3-phase power, reducing maximum peak current).

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE

Absolute temperature control accuracy trimable to within 1oC,
Typically stable to within 0.5oC

CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

Temperature control loop:
Any thermocouple input can be assigned to any control loop
(set point).
Any PWM or 0-6v output can be assigned to any control loop.
Any control loop can have up to 6 trimmed outputs.
Each control loop has the standard PID control parameters.
Controlled ramp up rates separate from PID
Maximum power limits
Alarm bands for each control loop
Alert bands for each control loop
There can be fifteen control loops on this configuration
(15 thermocouples)
Any 3 thermocouple inputs can be configured
for profiling operations.
Belt speed can be configured to work with opto-interrupter
or magnetic pickup for speed feedback.
